Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) has announced the
2010 $25K Extreme Classroom Make-over video
competition. The competition is open to teachers in grades
5-8 who teach science and/or mathematics as all or part of
their teaching assignments. Teachers in Jefferson county
are eligible!

Jefferson Elementary
invites all of their students and families to our Parent
Reading Night, Thursday, November 19, 2009. Come
celebrate reading, writing, and storytelling with us.
A local story teller will provide entertainment. 3rd -
5th grade students will proudly share the books that they
wrote andillustrated themselves, which we had professionally
published. Light refreshments will be available.
Students will receive a book to take home and keep. Join
us in the JES Gym from 6:30 to 7:00 and then the cafeteria
from 7:00 to 7:30. Hope to see you there! |

Jefferson Middle School
is participating in National Parent Involvement Day on
Thursday, November 19 by inviting 6th & 7th grade
parents in for breakfast (9:00 a.m.) and an Internet Safety
Seminar and 8th grade parents at 1pm for lunch and to
discuss ACT EXPLORE results. For those 8th grade
parents who can't come at 1pm, there will be a 6pm session
for discussion ACT EXPLORE results.

Rush Strong Strong School will host a Chili Supper
on Thursday, November, 19th, from 5:00 to 7:30 in the
cafeteria. The cost is $5 per adult, $4 per student. |

On November 7,
Maury Middle School
hosted Appalachian Outreach's
COATS FOR THE HOMELESS.
The SWARM (MMS Pep Club) served 300 meals and over
500 families were able to pick up outer wear their family.
Families came from the surrounding area as well as Virginia
and Kentucky. Appalachian Outreach is part of the
Carson-Newman umbrella.
