The Kid in the Red Jacket (Park) - By the author of the Junie B.
Jones series, Barbara Park, this story tells of Howard's move to a new school.
There, he is simply ignored and is just called "the kid in the red jacket."
To make matters worse, a six-year-old neighbor follows him around the schoolyard,
bursts into his home uninvited, and acts annoying. |
A Taste of Blackberries (Smith) - Jamie is always
messing around, putting on a show, trying to get all the attention. This
time, though, Jamie is not pretending. His best friend is left trying to
make sense of what happened.

Under the Bridge (McKenzie) - One day Ritchie and his little
sister, Rosie, wake up and everything is wrong. Their mother is gone. Their
father won't discuss it, and they are left wondering, fending for themselves.
One day, a letter arrives in the mail from the troll that lives under the
bridge! (They love the story "The Three Billy Goats Gruff.") Even though he
knows it can't be real, Ritchie loves getting the letters and helps Rosie
answer them.
