Third graders will learn to identify complete sentences, subjects and predicates, parts of speech, and correct punctuation. They will apply their knowledge of these grammar skills in writing original works of their own.
We use the 4 Blocks reading/language arts program. One important part of this program is the "Writing" block. Students will spend at least 30 minutes each day working on several different writing projects throughout the year. We will also conduct three county-wide "Write Away" days in which students from across the county will participate in timed writing assessments. Our goal is for students to be able to produce good, coherent paragraphs, maybe even multiple-paragraph essays, by the end of third grade.
