We follow the 4 Blocks reading program. This consists of guided reading, writing, working with words, and self-selected reading. Our reading textbook is from the Scott-Foresman series.
Reading is the basis of everything we do. Therefore, it is extremely important that students develop good reading skills. We do many activities to foster this development at school, yet it is essential that students read at home as well. Each student is required to read for at least 20 minutes each night as part of his/her homework assignment.
Check out the "Family Times" newsletter each week for important information about skills we will focus on for that week. A story summary, vocabulary words, grammar skills, and spelling words are also included on the "Family Times."
