Math
All of Jefferson County uses Saxon Math.  It is a program which doesn't use textbooks.  The students will have a worksheet with two sides.  The class will work on side A together as a group.  This helps the child in completing the homework on side B.  The side B is usually what is sent home for homework for math.  Mastery of multiplication tables is REQUIRED.  The students will be given fact quizzes of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or  fractions every day.  These facts can be studied as homework anytime.  A math assessment is usually given every 5 lessons.

The best way to help your student study math is to go over their homework sheets with them after they have been graded.   Rework sample problems like the ones they have  have missed.  Learning math facts in third grade is very important.
