LABORATORY SAFETY CONTRACT
Please read the following safety
rules to be followed throughout this course. After reading the
rules sign the contract stating that you will obey the safety
precautions as stated in this document. These rules are designed
to acquaint you with laboratory safety for yourself and others in the
class.
1. Do not proceed with any laboratory experiment unless the instructor is present.
2. Horseplay or practical jokes of any nature are not permitted.
3. Acquaint yourself with the location of the safety
equipment in the room, first aid kit, eye wash center, fire blanket,
fire extinguisher, fire alarm
4. Safety glasses must be worn when an experiment
calls for heating, pouring or mixing chemicals. It is good
practice for students to wear safety glasses when conducting any
activity.
5. Notify the instructor immediately of any injury that occurs, regardless of how minor.
6. Immediately flush any acid or base chemical spills
on clothing or skin with large amounts of water. Notify the
instructor.
7. Do not purposely inhale or taste any chemical substances.
8. Take responsibility for cleaning the work area once an activity is completed.
9. Notify the instructor if there is any question
about the procedure you are performing.

10. Do not use equipment for any purpose other than for its intended use.
11. Notify the instructor if any piece of equipment is damaged or broken.
12. Long hair msut be tied back when in the lab.
13. Close-toed shoes must be worn at all times when in the lab.
