- Biotechnology Mrs.
Briggs
- Policies and Procedures
Welcome! Biotechnology is an exciting subject since it
is the ‘wave’ of the future in many career paths. This course will challenge you. You need to be organized and stay current
with all material being covered. You
will have to work hard and use your brain.
With that information, below are
my procedures to help us achieve our goals this semester.
Enter the classroom
- Quietly and find your seat before
the tardy bell rings.
- Begin bellwork on the TV, board, or overhead.

If you are tard
- Each occurrence will be documented.
Lab Notebook
- All assignments should be written in the lab
notebook.
- As work is completed place it in the notebook.
- Notebooks will be graded randomly.
- Keeping your notebook current and neat is part
of your grade.
If you are absent
- It is your responsibility to get the
missed work on the day you return.
The assignments will be found in the ‘make-up’ folder.
- If you know you are going to be out such as a
field trip, you may get the assignments prior to missing class.
- Work not turned in by the 3rd day of
your return to class will result in a zero. There will be no exceptions to this rule
except for extended, excused absences.
Participation
- You are encouraged to participate in bellwork, discussions,
labs, and lecture.
In the lab
- Please follow the safety policies handed out
separately anytime you are in the laboratory.
- Failure to follow lab safety will result in the
student being dismissed from lab and a zero will be given for that lab
assignment.
Fees
- Supplies have to be replenished and restocked as
used. An $10.00 fee is collected
for each student for lab supplies.

otherwise.

the room.
- Leave your area as you found it or better.
- Remain at your desk until the bell rings.
Classroom Guidelines
- Be courteous and
respectful of your classmates and your teacher.
- Come to class
timely and prepared to work.
- Follow all
safety rules and procedures.
- Uphold high
standards of effort and achievement.
Final Advice
- Keep up with
your assignments. Lack of effort on
homework will have a negative impact on your grade in this class!
- Ask for help
when you need it. Whether that means
asking a question in class or coming in for assistance after class, I am here
to help you in any way I can.
- Take advantage
of opportunities to boost you grade.
- Work hard and
use your brain! I work very hard for you
and I expect nothing less in return.
