CHEMISTRY I
Class Procedures
Welcome! Chemistry is an exciting and fun subject that
will help us better understand the world around us. This course will challenge you.
You need to be well organized, work hard, and think (use your brain!). Always remember, CHEMISTRY IS FUN!
Enter the
classroom
- Quietly and find your seat before
the tardy bell rings.
- Place all items necessary for
class on desk.
- Begin bellwork on the TV, board
or overhead.
If you are
tardy
- Each occurrence will be
documented.
- Per the JCHS Student Handbook, after three misconducts the student
will be referred to an administrator.
If you need
to ask a question or need help
Headings on
papers
- Name and date should be written
in the upper right hand corner of all bellwork, assignments, labs, and
tests.
If you are
absent
- It is your
responsibility to get the missed work on the day you return.
- The day you return, it is your
responsibility to turn in anything that was due while you were absent.
- Daily assignments are kept in
the ‘make-up’ folder.
- If you know you are going to be
out such as a field trip, you may get the assignments prior to missing class.
- Work not turned in by the 3rd
day of your return to class will result in a zero.
Late work
- Assignments should be ready to
turn in when due.
- Late work is not
accepted for credit.

participate in bellwork, discussions, labs, and lecture.
- Participation counts as 5% of

To the students
I cannot
stress the importance of putting effort into completing your
homework/classwork. Chemistry involves
many skills that must be practiced. Lack
of effort in the classroom will have a negative effect on your grade! I want each of you to have a successful
semester. Toward that end, I am available
for additional help. Please make
arrangements with me if you are falling behind and need extra assistance.
Follow
these key steps and you will do great!
- Keep
up with your assignments. Falling behind
is the kiss of death in chemistry!
- Ask
for help when you need it. Whether this
is asking a question in class or coming in for tutoring, I am here to help you
in any way I can.
- Take
advantage of opportunities to boost your grade – bonuses, extra credit,
corrections.
- Work
hard and use your brain! I work very
hard for you, and I expect nothing less in return.
