Science Fair Update

Jefferson County Schools has formed a partnership with the Appalachian Electric Cooperative for the Science Fair.

Schedule for county-wide elementary science fair

Date: November 3

Location:  Dandridge Elementary School

• Projects must be in place at Dandridge Elementary School Library by 1:00 on November 3.
• Each school may send one representative for each fifth grade classroom.  Students may come from any of the classrooms.
• Projects will be judged between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
• Students will be present at their project by 4:00 to talk to the judges about their project.
• Awards ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m.
• Students participating in the county-wide fair will be treated to a “Pizza Party” before the ceremony sponsored by Appalachian Electric Cooperative.
• All projects MUST be removed  immediately following the ceremony.

Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair Schedule

Date:  MARCH 29 - APRIL 1, 2010

Location:  University of Tennessee in Thompson Boling Arena.

Awards Ceremony is on April 1 at 6:30

Students will travel to the Southern Appalachian Science Fair by bus accompanied by a science teacher from their school.  Lunch and bus transportation will be sponsored for students by Appalachian Electric Cooperative.  There is a long break during the lunch hour providing judges with time for preliminary judging and review of the projects.  Following lunch, students will tour McClung Museum on the University of Tennessee campus.  Students will return to Thompson Boling Arena at 3:00 p.m. for the final judging round.  Judging is completed at 5:00 p.m. and students will board the bus and return to Jefferson County with stops at the schools in the following order:  Rush Strong School, Jefferson Middle School, Maury, and White Pine.  Students may call you to give an estimated time for arrival at each school.
