LESSON OVERVIEW

This lesson is a web quest entitled “Tools and Prehistoric Man

INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS

Students will use specified web resources to explore information on the simple tools used by prehistoric man.

 TN STANDARDS

Performance Indicators:

5.1. understand the processes that gave rise to the earliest human civilizations.

At Level 1, the student is able to

·         list ancient weapons and tools.

At Level 2, the student is able to

·         understand the role of the environment in terms of influencing the development of weapons, and tools.

 

FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT

As students work in pairs on their web quest, the teacher should check visually to see that they are accessing appropriate sites.

LESSON ORGANIZATION

Opening the Lesson:
_10_ minutes

If students are unfamiliar with a “Web Quest,” briefly describe the procedure and expected outcomes.  Place students in “pairs” and assign them to a computer. Depending on the ability and maturity of the students, you may give them the hand-outs without further explanation or verbally outline for them the task ahead.

Developing the Lesson:
_30_ minutes

Students will follow the instructions given in the web quest.  The teacher should monitor their progress and give help as needed.

Closing the Lesson:
_5_ minutes

Have students share with the class some of the things they learned from their research.
