What I Expect from each student

I expect each student to come to class EVERYDAY with all necessary materials.  I expect everyone to be seated and have materials out and ready to go when the bell rings.

Materials for Class

Math book

· Loose leaf paper, 2 pencils sharpened (before bell rings), and 2 red pens

· 3 pronged plastic folder.  This will be used to send graded papers home.

· Above materials are used everyday.  Other supplies also needed ruler, protractor, colored pencils and graph paper.

· Students must put their name on all turned in papers.  Failure to put name on paper will result in loss of points 1st nine weeks.  After the 1st nine weeks zeros will be given to any paper without a name.

Grading System

I will be grading on a points system.  Assignments will be worth anywhere from 10 to 200 points.  If you receive all the points possible on an assignment that is the same at a 100/A.  If you only receive half the points possible, the letter grade would be a  50/F.  Tests are worth 200 points.

Homework

Homework is usually  worth 50 points and is graded on completion.  If the homework is completed and at least half the problems are correct then you will receive the full points possible.  Homework must be turned in the day it is due.  I usually assign homework Monday-Thursday and occasionally on Fridays.  I do not accept late work (NO EXCUSES) unless student is absent.  (See makeup policy in handbook)

Folder (everyone must keep a folder)

I will return the papers I grade and record.   Approximately every other week, I will send home a current average of your child’s math grade.  If any assignments do not have a grade then your child currently has a zero for the assignment.  If you child has been absent then she or he can make the assignment up otherwise he or she did not turn in the assignment.
