Celebrate Dr. Seuss Week
Read Across America
www.catinthehat.org
We are reading many of his great books!
This week we will be eating
 green eggs and ham.
We had fun playing a
memorization game
by Dr. Seuss.
Last week we learned many new
vocabulary and rhyming words at the
Jan Brett web site.

Our Favorite Books
http://pbskids.org/arthur

We are still reading Marc Brown's books

Arthur's Family Vacation

Arthur's Computer Trouble

and Arthur's Valentine's Day

This will be our focus books of the new school year.
We will read it, draw pictures and write a story in our journal about our own summer vacation.
Then share our stories
with our classmates.
Finally, we will watch the video and
have a class discussion.

I am sure that you enjoyed  listening  to your child read the typed version of
these books.  You will notice that he/she has highlighted
their  Mystery Words in yellow during our reading group.

Arthur's Halloween

Good Morning

"It's time!"
yelled the sun.
"I'll glow for the day!"
"I'll blow my blue horn,"
said the boy in the hay.
"I'll clap my hands loudly!
I'll raise high the flag!
Awake from your sleeping,
This day's in the bag!"

by B. E. Lieberman

(Please listen to your child recite this poem and then look for the beginning sounds of  bl, fl, gl, sl)
