Password Activity – Susan Price

This activity is based on the old Password game show. Take the vocabulary words from the reading stories for the past several weeks and make two cards for each word. Divide the class into two teams.

The teacher will sit in the center with a pair of students on either side. One student has his/her back to the teacher and his/her partner is facing the student. The other team is seated in the same manner. The teacher gives each student closest to her the same vocabulary word cards, making sure that the facing students cannot see the word. Taking turns, the student will give a one-word clue or synonym for the word. His/her partner guesses the word and, if wrong, the other team takes a turn at the same word. If necessary, the teams may give more than one-word clues after one round. The team to guess the correct word wins one point. The teams change partners and a new round begins.
