Utilization : The students in my class have difficulty writing sentences using correct capitalization and punctuation. I plan to download the Power Point presentation and alter it to meet the needs of my second graders. I will include only the slides dealing with capital letters and end marks.

Utilization: After using the Power Point presentation identified in site one, the students will use this activity to practice the skills taught. They will also work with identifying the types of sentences. This is a skill which is very difficult for second graders and is addressed in the Terra Nova.

Utilization: I would use this activity for practice after introducing new addition skills. There are three levels which would be used as needed. I would first use this activity with the whole group and then let individual students practice. Students would need to work problems on scrap paper first. This would give them practice copying problems correctly.

Utilization: This activity could be used to test the students’ ability to identify fractions correctly. Since there are only ten questions, I would have each student do the activity and monitor the results.

Utilization: I do a butterfly unit with my second graders. I purchase butterfly eggs and the class observes and learns about the butterfly’s life cycle. This site gives instructions for an art activity which would be a wonderful introduction or culmination for the unit. I would use the final product to create a bulletin board.

Utilization: After beginning a butterfly unit, the class plants seeds and watches them as they grow. The plants become food for the caterpillars and a place for the butterflies to lay their eggs. This site contains an online book which would be read with the group before planting the seeds.
