Phonics
Throughout this school year, your child will be introduced
to each letter of the alphabet. We will learn a different letter
a week in random order. Various consonants will be learned first
with vowels mixed throughout, so the spelling of words will be easy as
we learn each letter. Your child will know each letter recognition,
formation, and its sound by the end of the year. We will learn how to read
many words through the Saxon Phonics program and Scott Foresman Reading
Series. The Building Blocks curriculum and Mountain Language program also
help your child learn phonemic awareness activities, reading, and writing
skills. Before you know it, your child will be reading to you and
becoming very excited about his/her accomplishments!
