What
supplies are
needed for Algebra 1?
Students in
Algebra 1 will need:
It is
not necessary to purchase a graphing calculator because we have a
classroom set
to use when covering topics in which a graphing calculator would be
helpful. Students will have access
to the
graphing calculators during their class period; however, they will not
be
allowed to take the graphing calculators home.
If you plan to purchase a new graphing calculator, a
What if
my child is absent and has work to make up after the absence?
Good attendance is very
important for success in Algebra 1.
However, it is sometimes necessary for students to miss for
valid
reasons, in which case it is extremely important for the student to
make up all
work missed in a timely manner.
***
In
the event of an absence, all assignments (tests and quizzes included) MUST be made up within 3 DAYS of
the student’s return
to school.
***
Missed
tests and quizzes must be made up before school, after school, or
during break
unless otherwise indicated by the teacher.
***
In
the event of an extended absence (i.e. more than 3 days), students
should check
with the teacher for an extension.
Unless WRITTEN PERMISSION
is obtained from the teacher on the day of the student’s return
to school, work
must be turned in within 3 days of the student’s return.
***
Work
not completed for reasons other than an absence CANNOT
be made up unless the student obtains permission from
the teacher. Permission will be granted
only in extreme situations.
***
Late
assignments will NOT be
accepted!!! Unless an absence is
involved, a paper is considered late if it is not handed in when the
rest of
the class turns in their papers. (i.e.
Students will not be allowed to go to their locker to get an
assignment, to
complete a paper and turn it in after class, to finish a paper in
class, etc.)
***
Assignments
missed due to participation in ANY
school activity are required to be made up; all missing assignment
policies
apply in this situation.
***
In
the event of an absence, students may check the missing assignment
notebook in
order to obtain a list of assignments.
If the notebook does not contain an assignment for the day(s) of
the
student’s absence, he or she should notify the teacher.
*** IT IS
THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK FOR MISSED ASSIGNMENTS!!!
What if my
child is
late to class?
It is
extremely important that the students develop a good habit of being
punctual. Being late to class can and
often does interfere with the entire learning process.
My definition of being on-time to class is
the student being in his/her assigned seat with materials ready for
that class
period, not just being in the room. If a
student fails to meet the above criteria, he/she will receive a tardy. After 3 tardies a student will be given an
office referral.
What other
classroom
expectations are there?
