On September 15, 2000 a Math Renaissance Institute was held at Jefferson Middle School.  David Moore, from Memphis City Schools, instructed participating Jefferson County teachers in the Math Renaissance Program utilizing Accelerated Math and STAR Math. 

The four componenets of the Math Renaissance program are:
1.  AMP:  Appropriate Math Practice

  • Prints individualized pracitce assignments and tests for each student
  • Scores practice assignments and tests automatically
  • Prints individual and class reports to help teacher plan and monitor
  • Follow a six-step classroom process:  1)teacher assigns objectives 2)printer prints practice sheet 3)student completes worksheet 4) student transfers answers to scanner card 5)student feeds scan card to scanner to print out report  6)teacher can review work or set program to print out next practice sheet
2.  LIS:  Learning Information System Accelerated Math
 
  • Immediate feedback of student progress


3.  MMS:  Math Motivation System

  • Start each student working and succeeding at his or her own level, without extra work for you. 
4.  MIMI:  Motivate, Instruct, Monitor, Intervene
  •  Help students discover that they can do math—and like it! 
Accelerated Math:
  • Student receives daily assignment.
  •  Program instantly scores assignment.
  •  Reports provide information on progress.
  •  Review progress with student.
  •  Program prints next assignment.
