RIVET

A QUICK WAY TO INTRODUCE VOCABULARY WORDS WHICH IS SIMILAR TO THE GAME HANGMAN (CUNNINGHAM, 1999)

Choose 4-5 vocabulary words that are important to the text.

Students try to guess the words and make a prediction about what the story will be about.

Optional: Students fold a paper into 4 squares, writing one word in each box. After reading the story, students then draw a picture to help them remember the new word.
