There are many ways to level
books. Book levels should be considered approximate. They will help to guide
you in directing your students toward appropriate books.
Ponder this analogy with your students:
Reading is like riding a bike. Sometimes you struggle as you
peddle uphill or read a difficult book. Sometimes you coast downhill as you
read an easy book. Most of the time, you ride along comfortably on level ground
as you read a “just right” book.
