GEOMETRY

Geometric Concepts: Understanding
The learner will be able to display comprehension of spatial relationships and geometry through thevisualization and recognition of various objects (2D and 3D), by sorting different shapes, identifying symmetry, applying transformations and formulas, and through the evaluation of the characteristics of various figures.

HOMEWORK HELP

DiscoverySchool.com
http://school.discovery.com/homeworkhelp/webmath/geometry.html
This site has separate pages for students, teachers, and even parents. The student page has a link to tutoring. The teacher page has lesson plans and classroom activities. The parent page has suggestions for helping children with work and encouraging them to do well. It also provides views from teachers about various issues. I think this page is quite beneficial for anyone involved in a child's education.

Math.com  The World of Math online
http://mail.math.com/homeworkhelp/Geometry.html
Math.com offers homework help, practice, quizzes, and tutorials for various mathematical subjects. Students can find a great deal of outside help on this web site that could help them if they are struggling.
*** This resource can be used in a hands-on, learned centered classroom

LESSON PLANS AND UNITS
Lesson Plans for Mr. Busse's Geometry class
http://whs.wsd.wednet.edu/whsinfo/MathHomePage/LessonPlans.html
This site contains more than 300 math and physics pages that are lesson plans. This would be very beneficial for beginning teachers who need ideas about geometry lessons.

INTERNET PROJECTS

Integrated Curriculum Projects
http://www.germantownacademy.org/curtech/interpro.htm
Provides a list of projects that incorporate technology into the everyday activities of learning. The projects were put together by various teachers, department heads, grade coordinators, and a curricular technology specialist. This site could provide helpful suggestions for high school students as they work on projects for their classes.

CONTENT RESOURCES

GEOMETRY: An Online Learning Center
http://www.geometry.net/
This math/geometry search engine allows students and teachers to search practically anything in the relm of mathematics. It includes categories for famous mathematicians, various subjects, physics, and even technology. Students could use this for projects related to history of mathematics.

INFORMATION ABOUT USING TECHNOLOGY

Technology in the Geometry Classroom
http://www.geom.umn.edu/education/math5337/
These course materials are for a class that introduces pre- and in-service high-school geometry teachers to the use of techology in their classrooms. Participants experience the use of software tools, videos, and WWW-based lessons themselves while studying modern and classical geometry problems. Course projects help them to learn techniques and develop examples that can be incorporated into their own classes. The materials are divided into four self-contained parts: Internet Skills, Classical Geometry, Dynamical Systems, and Symmetries and Patterns.

INTERNET TEACHING TOOLS

The Geometry Center
http://www.scienceu.com/geometry/
This site is very cool, it has activities, articles, and strategies for incorporating interactive experiences into the everyday learning atmosphere of the classroom. I think that this site is quite amazing. It offers many fun learning instruments that teachers can use to "liven up" classroom lessons.

Foam Facts 123
  http://www.foamfantastic.com/foamfacts.htm
Foam Facts 123 has many different internet activities that would be very exciting and useful in a geometry classrooom. Teachers could use this web site as added practice, extra credit, or just a regular assignemnt.

WEBLIOGRAPHY

Midland's Technical College Library
http://www.mid.tec.sc.us/library/compscie.html#mathematics
This library page gives a list of geometry related (and other math areas as well) resources. This could be very beneficial for teachers to use to find activities and information for their lessons and classroom activities.

REFERENCE TOOLS

Geometry and the Imagination
  http://www.geom.umn.edu/docs/education/institute91/handouts/handouts.html
Notes and handouts for an innovative geometry course developed at Princeton and the Geometry Center. This is a "class" designed for teachers that can be used to teach them how to better incorporate innovative ideas into their geometry classrooms.
