-
The purpose of this site is to provide teachers, parents, and students
with many reliable resources.
-
Awesome Library provides teachers, students, and parents with a massive
number of links to good educational sites. The user can choose a
topic/subtopic under science that he/she is interested in finding information
about. Awesome Library then lists resources such as articles, virtual
field trips, lesson plans, worksheets, discussions, and many more, about
that topic. The user can also just type a keyword or set of words
into the search area and the library provides her/him with lots of information
on that topic. This web site is useful to teachers, parents, and
students. The user can actually choose to look at content that is
aimed specifically for parents, students, or teachers. Students will
find the many resources useful for completing assignments. The lesson
plans and teaching guides are especially helpful to teachers. Parents
can become updated on information that their children are learning in school
to help them become involved in their child’s schooling.
-
The links that this site provides must meet certain standards. They
must be child-safe, useful for teachers, students, parents, or librarians,
be actual documents, projects, pictures, or discussion groups, be current,
load quickly, have only a small percentage of "dead" links, and be the
best version available. Dr. R. Jerry Adams began this web site.
It is sponsored by the US Department of Education, and due to being ".org"
is nonprofit. This site has gained much recognition including being
listed as one of the "Best Bets in Education" for USA TODAY and being recommended
for researching by public libraries. The site is extremely extensive,
having a large number of science resources for many different topics.
This site is also easy to navigate, as it is clearly laid out for the viewer
in hierarchy of categories. The site displays the steps the user has taken
to get where he/she is and links to go back. For example: Here:
