Language Arts Curriculum Standards

Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

The subject known as Language Arts consists of many different areas. Reading, Writing and Viewing and Representing are the areas in which we covered on this page. There are other components of Language Arts as well, such as Spelling, Listening, and Grammar. This page will give you five resources that are very helpful to students who are learning Language Arts and/or other subject areas, and these resources can also be useful to teachers and parents. They are as follows:

Awesome Library organizes the Web with 16,000 carefully reviewed resources, including the top 5 percent in education. The Library has buttons for teachers, kids, teens, parents, librarians, and anyone in the community. Some of the subjects that can be found here are the Arts, English, Mathematics, and Science.

M-W is a Language Center and is short for Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary and Thesaurus.

Ask Jeeves is a great place to find information on the Web. At ask.com anyone can type in a question and find many different links to information available on the Web.

http://www.dictionary.com Dictionary.com is a fast way to look up words in a dictionary or a thesaurus. It also has links for a bookstore, cool tools, writing resources, and more.

Britannica.com is the Internet's premiere encyclopedia and is updated regularly. At Britannica.com anyone can find their topic just by using the search tool. It's easy and it's fast.

These web pages deal with Writing, Reading, and Viewing and Representing. We hope these three pages can help you better understand the curriculum goals of the Tennessee School Systems.
