Science, 6-8th Grade
By
Lakiea Rivers and Greg Gideon

This resource kit is for teachers who are trying to teach the science standards set by the state of Tennessee.  Two standards were selected, then researched by the authors until seven different resources were found for each standard.  The resources were chosen based on their ability to help the teacher and the students better understand and master the standard set by the state.  The authors then went on to create a resource of their own that could be used by the teacher and the students.

Science Standards:
1.5a
1.1b

The first standard selected was Tennessee Standard 1.5a:
Tables and graphs may be used to interpret the meaning and significance of data.
More specifically the authors chose to concentrate on the benchmark set for grades 6-8th:
Mathematical statements can be used to describe the magnitudes of change
one quantity has on another.  The graphic display of numbers may help to show patterns such as trends, varying rates of change, gaps, or clusters.
