This is a picture of our word wall.  You will notice there are not any words on the wall yet!  Words will be added to the wall each week.

When we get into the classroom, we pick which choice we want for lunch.  This is our lunch count pocket chart.

Our classroom is divided into centers - areas where materials are stored for specific subjects and activities. We will be using the internet and power point presentations throughout the year, so this comes in real handy.  We also have a book corner. We have several large baskets that hold our AR books, baskets that hold our self-selected reading bags, and baskets that hold books divided into subjects.  Students work at desks, but generally, I have the desks divided into groups.    This type of seating is effective with both cooperative and independent work, and it gives space for special activities.  If the students are reading with a partner, or in a group, we have a class set of clipboards for the students to use.  I rearrange the seating many times throughout the year so students have an opportunity to work with everyone.
