our
class rules
Together, we discuss
what our rules should be for our classroom. We talk about how we
want a learning atmosphere, because we are here to learn. One of
the first things we do in our classroom is make our Bill of Rights.
This year, our Bill of Rights read:
We
the members of Mrs. Runyans classroom have the right to:
make mistakes
be polite and helpful
work in a quite environment
ask questions
be listened to
feel safe
be treated fairly
be respected
be recognized for our achievements
learn
have our own opinions
Once completed,
everyone signs the bill. It is hung in our classroom for all to see.
Sometimes, we have to refer back to the Bill of Rights to remember what
we have signed our name to.
Our
Classroom Rules are:
be polite and kind to others (this includes listening carefully when others
are talking, and keep your hands, feet, objects, and unkind remarks to
yourself)
follow the directions the first time they are given
bring all needed materials to class
raise your hand and wait to be called on
work quietly and complete all assignments
We have a discipline
plan. Our plan is called Panther Paws Stay on Path. Each student
has a panther paw that is filled with 5 colored cards. The cards
can be turned daily for not following the rules. Each day we will
start off fresh.
I use a variety
of rewards. They include candy, computer time, stickers, art or game
time, and RunBucks. RunBucks is a system that I think works great.
At the beginning of each 9 weeks, the students will receive several RunBucks.
Over the course of the nine weeks, they have the opportunity to earn or
loose bucks.
Bucks can be taken
away for missing or late assignments, not following the classroom rules,
sloppy work, etc.
Bucks will be
given for appropriate behavior, showing improvement, making a 100 on a
given test, following the directions, etc.
At the end of
the nine weeks, we will have an auction.
I will bring in
items and the student will have an opportunity to bid on the item. The
highest bid wins the item for sale.
