Piedmont Elementary's Media Program
Piedmont Elementary School's Media Program is conducted by a licensed K-12 media specialist, Tracy Russell. The media program's goal is to teach students information skills appropriate to their grade level and correlating to the state standards relating to libraries, media, and language arts. Students receive a grade in library class based on their participation, behavior, and learning.
The Piedmont Library operates on a fixed schedule allowing each class in grades one through five to visit the library twice per week. The first library class is focused on an activity, skill, or piece of literature. The second class centers on sustained silent reading and book checkout. Kindergarten classes come to the library once a week where they do an activity or hear a read-aloud, and then checkout a book.
Students have the privilege to checkout books weekly at Piedmont. Please remember to take good care of the books that are your responsibility. Students who damage or lose books will have to pay for them before checking out more books. Students in second through fifth grade may checkout two books per week. Kindergarten and first grade students check out one book per week. |
