Math
All Jefferson County uses Saxon Math. Fourth grade
students
are using the textbook this year and not the handout sheets.
We go over all the teaching and practice together in class.
Students will be assigned homework each night. They are to
correct the missed problems on the homework after it is returned.
This is an important assignment as problems will show up again on
other assignments. Practicing them correctly is very important.
Failing to correct homework may cause students to miss their
recess the following day. The Saxon textbook shows samples and
practice solutions for all problems. Each problem also refers
back to the original lesson if a student needs review of how to solve
problems. Look for the small number written in
parenthesis under each math problem number.
We usually give a practice test for homework a few
days before the actual test. Students will then have this
practice test to study and practice before the actual test later in the
week. They are expected to study for the test by
going
over problems they have missed on the homework that has already been
graded. These papers should be in their notebooks filed
behined
"Math".
We will have a math test almost every Wednesday I will try
not to give math homework over the weekends, but students can always
study math facts and redo math problems they have missed on homework.
