Hello, I'm Kristi Waltke, Literacy Coach for New
Market and Talbott schools for the 2007-2008 school year. I am a
creative, hard working individual who loves working with children.
I will strive to put Jefferson County students at the top.
Last year was my first year as a Literacy Coach. I worked at Rush Strong and New Market schools. It was definitely a year of accelerated growth for me as a professional. I learned so much about working with students of various ages and working with teachers as well.
For the
seven years prior to last, I was a teacher at Dandridge Elementary.
I taught first grade, enhanced first grade, enhanced second grade, and second grade. I began
teaching after graduating from Carson Newman College, which I attended
on academic and basketball scholarships. While teaching, I went
back to Carson Newman to obtain a Master's Degree in Curriculum and
Instruction.
Teaching
runs in my family. My mother Becky Schrader has been a kindergarten
teacher in Jefferson County for more than twenty years. I have several
aunts and a sister-in-law who also teach in Jefferson
County.
I am married to Michael Waltke. We have a beautiful five year old daughter who will be starting school this year. Now you know a little about me.
