We no longer teach phonics the Saxon way.  It is just part of our series now.  I am curious to see how it does because I was a proponent of the Saxon method.  When the higher ups say change, that's what we must do.  It was a very expensive program to purchase.
      During Self-Selected Reading  students read from library books of their choice based on their reading level.  Students are also doing Accelerated Reader and taking computer tests on the books they have read.

Week of May 5

• Accelerated Reading
• Review H-F Words: stars, money, clothes, caught, marry, buy, daughters, half,  many, their, youngest
• Vocabulary Words:  cattle, trails, cowboy, herd, campfire, railroad, galloped
• suffixes -ness, -less
• review "-tion," "ture", compound words
• Basal Story - Cowboys, Cowboy Gear
• comprehension: cause and effect
• leveled readers
