My name is Kathy Fleming Wiles and I love teaching. I was born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee. I graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas in 1977.   I did not start my teaching career until my children were older.  I came to Piedmont in March of 1995 as an aide to get my feet wet.  I was a teaching aide in our resource classroom from 1995 until 2002.  I felt after 7 years I was ready to step out and and teach 2nd grade.  How rewarding it has been.  I bounced one year to 3rd grade and back down to second. This is the grade for me !  I love the team I work with and they have been very supportive of a late in life teacher starting her career.  
     I have two children and two grandchildren.  I thought children were great but oh what a wonderful time I am having with grandchildren. When I hear them call my name "Grammie Sunshine" I just melt.  I consider it a real priviledge to be allowed to teach your child.  Teaching at Piedmont is a dream come true.
