Expectations Rules Grading Policies Consequences Procedures

Middle
School marks the beginning of a new time in a child and parent’s life. Until
now, you have been able to act like a small child, but now we expect you to act
more like a young adult. I would prefer to treat you like the young adults that
you are, rather than the small children that you used to be. However, it is
your behavior and attitude that will dictate how you will be treated.
If you wish to be treated like a young adult, then you should be prepared to
follow the expectations and procedures outlined below and in the rest of this
handout. If you choose not to follow these rules, you should be
prepared to accept the consequences of your actions. With that said,
here is what I expect of you as young adults:
(These
are in addition to any WPS rules found in the student handbook):
BE
PROMPT! Be in your seat and ready to begin work when
the bell rings.
BE
PREPARED! Have all supplies
everyday. This means:
Paper
Pencils
BE
POLITE!
Be respectful of others and of their property.
Wait your turn to speak.
Stay in your seat unless you
have permission to get up.
No food, drinks, candy or gum
in this classroom.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
III. Grading Policies and Procedures
(These will be posted once the 180 program arrives and is implemented)
If you choose to break a classroom rule you will be held accountable. Possible consequences may include sentences, calls home, behavior essays or card signatures.
For serious infractions, (disrespect, classroom disruption, repeated offenses, fights, horseplay, etc.) You will get either an automatic signature or an office referral.
If your behavior or lack of effort (not doing your work) is an ongoing problem, you should expect a call home.
Enter the room quietly, sharpen your pencil if necessary and go directly to your seat.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL CLASS HAS STARTED TO SHARPEN YOUR PENCIL!!
Use the restroom between classes. After
all, I have to do the same.
No cell phones, CD players or other personal electronic devices are allowed. There is no need to have these out in class. Please note: Teachers have been directed to take these devices up. If I have to warn you more than once, then you should expect to have them taken up to the front office.
If you have a question, or wish to
leave your seat, raise your hand to ask permission.
Stay in your seat until you are dismissed.
Don’t ask to use the phone. I
can’t let you go unless it is an extreme emergency.
When you are absent, check the make-up
folder.
Do NOT answer the intercom or make comments when it is in use.
